



































Baking & Cooking Club (Grades 4-8) at The Makers United Clubhouse
Our Fall 2025 Class meets every Monday, 2:40-6pm, September 15 to December 15
Grades 4–7
Location: Makers United Clubhouse, 237 Hancock Street, Brooklyn
Schedule: Fall 2025 | 13 Weekly Session
This is THE class for all you food-obsessed kids—it's a real live cooking show and YOU are the stars! Learn to bake a perfect cake, sear a restaurant-quality steak, poach delicate shrimp, and fold a classic French omelette, all while having serious fun and eating incredible food.
Led by: Food entrepreneur and experienced educator Laena, plus amazing guest chefs and successful food entrepreneurs who'll share expert techniques and behind-the-scenes stories from the culinary world.
What you'll master: Professional cooking techniques, kitchen confidence, food science, and maybe most importantly—how to make really, really good food.
Program Highlights:
Master professional techniques: knife skills, temperature control, timing, and plating
Learn food science concepts like protein coagulation, gluten development, and flavor chemistry
Cook and taste-test restaurant-quality dishes using premium ingredients
Meet guest chefs and food entrepreneurs who'll share their expertise and stories
Develop confidence in recipe reading, ingredient selection, and kitchen safety
By the end of the semester, our Chefs will:
🔥 Sear, sauté, bake, and poach with confidence using professional techniques
🥩 Prepare complex dishes like perfectly cooked steaks, delicate omelets, and layered cakes
🧂 Season and taste with developed palates, understanding salt, acid, heat, and fat
👨🍳 Navigate any kitchen with proper knife skills, tool knowledge, and safety practices
🌍 Appreciate global cuisines and the stories behind traditional cooking methods
📖 Create original recipes and adapt dishes to personal tastes and dietary needs
💪 Build kitchen confidence that translates to lifelong cooking joy and healthy eating
Perfect for curious minds ready to turn up the heat, master the fundamentals, and cook like the pros!
All students will receive professional-quality tools to keep, recipe collections, and premium ingredients for each lesson. The semester culminates with a chef showcase where students present their signature dishes to family and friends!
