














Making Noise: Radio, Podcast, & Digital Media Production
making noise is an intensive enrichment course for 6th-8th graders interested in creating digital media. over 12 weeks, students will learn how to refine their taste, develop strong storytelling instincts, connect with culture, and hone the tools they need to create the things they want to see in the world. they’ll get historical context for their favorite media and insight from guest instructors that are working creative professionals. by the end of each term they’ll have published a new audio work of their own conception and have helped bring others’ visions to life. the end product is a 24-hour linear radio broadcast entirely conceived, produced, programmed, and promoted by students.
Led by: Matthew Ismael Ruiz is a writer, editor, producer, curator, and educator with decades of multi-disciplinary experience at websites, magazines, newspapers, digital streaming platforms, tv, and radio stations.
Grades: 6-8th
Location: Makers United Clubhouse at 237 Hancock Street in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.
Schedule: Every Friday, 3-5pm (pickup at 2:40 at Arts & Letters)
